
Introducing
Dr. Jaclyn Purkiss
Dr. Jacy Purkiss is a licensed clinical psychologist in CA (PSY35581). Dr. Purkiss earned her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant University in San Diego in 2023. She is a humanistic psychologist at heart and prioritizes the use of evidence-based strategies to provide effective therapy. She believes therapy is a special place people can seek out to heal from the challenges that come with the human experience and discover ways to create more meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Dr. Purkiss has extensive training in eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, and posttraumatic stress. She trained and worked at UCSD Eating Disorder Center for treatment and research from 2022-2025. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at UCSD Eating Disorder Center with the Adult Program and specialized in the treatment of complex eating disorders with co-occurring posttraumatic stress and substance use disorders. She has been trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Mindful Self-Compassion, CBT-Enhanced, CBT-for ARFID, Family Based Treatment, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and Trauma Focused CBT. She uses evidence-based treatment and believes it is important for her patients to know both that therapy works and also how it can work to create lasting change.
Her research interests include those related to eating disorders, positive psychology, gender and sexuality, attachment and relationships, third-wave psychology, and mindfulness.

Jacy enjoys spending time with her loved ones. She values spending time in nature. She is a lifelong learner and seeks out opportunities to learn more be that through reading, traveling, meditation, or community.
