Dr. Alyssa Chimiklis
Alyssa L. Chimiklis, PhD is a clinical psychologist licensed in California, New York, and Texas. Following this, she completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at UC San Diego Health’s Eating Disorders Center for Treatment and Research. Dr. Chimiklis specializes in the assessment and treatment of adolescents and young adults with eating disorders and body image concerns as well as common co-occurring conditions including anxiety, ADHD, and trauma. She provides evidenced based treatments including family-based treatment for anorexia (FBT), parent management training (PMT), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) strategies. She particularly enjoys employing family-based treatment for adolescents with eating disorders and individual therapy to address eating and body image concerns in teenagers.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Chimiklis has actively participated in several treatment intervention projects, including research on a school-based yoga program aimed at evaluating its impact on emotion regulation and attention among kindergarten and first-grade students. Her research interests also extend to exploring the effects of a school-based yoga program on positive embodiment, and assessing the feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of the program.
