Introducing
Ashley Smith
Ashley Smith (she/her) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT # 136964) registered by the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences. She received a Master of Science in Couple and Family Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University.
Eating Disorder Therapy
Ashley specializes in working with individuals struggling with eating disorders, anxiety, and body image concerns. Her clinical experience spans all levels of care including residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient, allowing her to meet clients exactly where they are in their recovery journey.
Ashley’s approach is compassionate, trauma-informed, and evidence-based. She utilizes a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and systemic therapy to uncover the deeper emotional and relational patterns that fuel disordered eating. Together, Ashley helps clients identify unhelpful thought processes, shift negative self-beliefs, and build a healthier relationship with food, body, and self.
“I believe that you are the expert on your own experience, and I’m here to help you uncover your strengths and develop the tools to support lasting change. Whether you’re in the early stages of seeking help or continuing long-term recovery, I offer a supportive, non-judgmental space to guide your healing.”
LGBTQ+ Affirmative & Gender/Sex Therapy
In addition to her work with eating disorders, Ashley has a strong passion for sex therapy and LGBTQ+ affirmative care, including gender identity exploration, sexual orientation, relationship diversity, and body image concerns.
As a queer-affirming therapist, Ashley creates a space that celebrates identity, reduces shame, and supports clients in exploring their authentic selves. Whether you’re navigating questions around gender or sexuality, addressing sex-related concerns, or healing from past trauma, she provides a validating and supportive environment where you can feel truly seen and heard.
Ashley’s therapeutic style is warm, direct, and humanistic, grounded in a trauma-informed approach. She integrates EFT, DBT, and CBT, tailoring therapy to each client’s unique goals and needs. She also holds Level 1 and 2 training in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy, which supports couples in deepening emotional and sexual intimacy, improving communication, and rebuilding connection.
“My favorite part of being a therapist is helping people find confidence in their identities, set healthy boundaries, and silence the inner critic. I love being a part of someone’s journey toward becoming more comfortable, empowered, and whole.”
